Family, Health, and Dreams By Lewis Howes

It started over two years ago when I first started listening to a podcast called The School of Greatness I thought that is was just going to be another typical podcast trying to sell me something. I was very mistaken and Lewis Howes is the reason. I was immediately inspired by his message and mission to help as many people as possible define and live their version of greatness. Lewis Howes grew up with challenges like the rest of us, but he went on to become a two-time All-American both in football and the decathlon and to play football professionally. And that’s when Lewis’ life completely changed when he suffered a career-ending injury.  He struggled for two years trying to find his way and through nothing but sheer determination and persistence he went on to have many successes, the latest being The School of Greatness. If you have ever listened to the show you know that he is all about showing gratitude and acknowledging his guests. That’s something I have never heard on other shows in any forum. Sincere gratitude. That’s what it’s all about my friends and how fitting is it that Lewis was kind enough to grant my friend Chris this exclusive.  So relax and carve out some time in your busy day to read this article. I think you will find that there is a piece of Lewis Howes in you, too. I know I did.

What does being grateful mean to you?

Being appreciative of what you DO have in your life instead of focusing on what you DON’T have

Right now in this moment what are 3 things you are grateful for?

Always health. Nothing else matters in life when we are sick or seriously injured, so I’m grateful for my healthy body and the ability to train hard, breath deep, and move gracefully.

Community. I love my family and friends and they lift me up. Without amazing people around me life wouldn’t be as fulfilling.

Dreams. I’m grateful to have big dreams and to be pursuing them. It’s what gets me out of bed in the morning and excites me to inspire others.

How do you feel that gratitude has impacted your journey to get where you are today and how does it continue to impact where you are headed?

It’s one of the biggest things that has helped me get to where I’m at, and if I continue to be grateful I know it will only propel my success.

Who is the first person that comes to mind when you hear, “Someone in my social network that I’m grateful for and why?”

My best friend Matt Cesaratto. He’s always there for me no matter what.

If you were advising a gratitude movement whose goal was to be what ESPN is to Sports or Huffington Post is to news what would you recommend be the top action steps?

Be clear on your vision, build a team around that vision, and take massive action each day to reach your goals.

You inspire, motivate, and challenge millions of people weekly through The School of Greatness Podcast and your New York Times Bestselling Book “The School of Greatness.” Who has recently inspired you? Who does Lewis Howes call his mentor?

I have many people that inspire me but all for different things, Tony Robbins and Oprah are mentors that don’t even know it.

In closing, what is one suggestion that you can give our readers that can help them incorporate gratitude into their daily lives?

Every time you meet someone new or say hi to a friend you see at work or throughout the day, instead of asking “hows your day”, ask them “what are you most grateful for today.”
