A MOMENT LIKE THIS

By Bella of Louisville

A friend and I were chatting about how fast time passes and how we’re unable to see each other as much as we used to. It’s a sad part of life but a true on. The only thing that we can do is try to get the most fulfillment in this current era of non-stop go-go-go mentality is a few of the following:

~ The messages between her and I are about how I try to take living in the moment and being happy for the then, the right now. ~

1) I wish there were a pause button or a slo-mo option for life.

2) I’m in the process of trying to live in every minute. Moving slower with my mind by acknowledging everything in my senses.

3) Stepping away from work for even a minute to touch the pages of one of the million self-help books I have, lately it’s The Language of Letting Go. Or I pet Gibby (my potcake) who’s usually right under my desk beside me. He helps me feel less overwhelmed.

4)  When I get stressed, which happens a lot lately, I go outside. There’s nothing that can compare to the beauty of the seasonal change in Cherokee Park. I feel so connected to God when I’m outside. I can see him in the sunshine and feel it on my skin.

5) Also, looking at the collage of pictures behind my desk is a reminder of the amazing women in my life. It fills my heart to see my “tribe” smiling back at me when I turn around in my office

6)  If it’s a quick break outside I just walk on the sidewalk or grass, stepping carefully, of course. It’s a method I read about called grounding. It’s supposed to be a remedy for insomnia and anxiety. However, any night I’m trashing around I never think to walk outside, maybe I’ll change that.

7) Since my stomach has been in its most recent uproar the only things that I can taste that doesn’t upset it is water, Kombucha, or one of the amazing tea’s my girlfriends got me for an engagement gift. *Thank you.

8) I’ve been using essential oils for medicinal healing and I stop to smell the oils and apply them quite often. Lavender, patchouli, serenity, and whisper are my favorite.

We can’t slow down the crazy train but we can take in the minutes as they pass. We just have to throw ourselves at the current moment and not look backward unless we’re doing so to check how far we’ve actually came.
