Ryan Phillips/ Sister Velveeta Von Tease.
He is an amazing person who has a passion for accepting others where they are and loving them! He founded the Derby City Sisters which is a mission of the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence in January of 2014. Since then many nuns have come to the fold and they have raised thousands of dollars for many local non-profit organizations! All the while sharing love and acceptance! Below you will read letters of gratitude written to Ryan, from his sister nuns. Enjoy!
I wanted to take the time to give full credit to a beautiful soul. I never knew that two years ago, a stranger, and frankly someone that I never believed I would ever cross paths with, would change me for the better. Ryan has brought me, great understanding of self-love and love for the community of Louisville. In discovering the Derby City Sisters and my persona, NvSr. Fluffy Harrington, I have been able to do great deeds via his hard work and endless self-sacrifice to form Derby City Sisters. I am proud to call him a friend, a sister, and a friend for life.

Ryan has managed to do the impossible: Bring a Sister of Perpetual Indulgence group to Louisville. His enthusiasm for this work and his knowledge of the fae history is what drew me to befriend him all those months ago. As a practicing witch, I admire his Buddhist ways of looking to the positive and seeing past ego. I do not put anyone on a pedestal and there are flaws in Ryan, which he is actually quite willing to admit, see and work on. I think we mesh well and are able to do the work necessary to continue this wonderful organization.

I have often heard it said that people come into our lives for a reason. Over the years people come and go, each leaving a unique foot print on your soul. However, once in a great while, someone comes along that is truly amazing. Someone that creates a space in others for change, inspires positive energy, and brightens the world. One of those people in my life is Ryan Phillips. In just the three short years that I have known Ryan, I have been uplifted by his glowing spirit, energized to help bring good into this world, and shown what a leader is all about. Without Ryan, there would be no Velveeta Von Tease, no Ginger Holywood, and no Hairy-Et Osofury. Our closets would not be stuffed with more dresses than our mothers, more jewelry than our ex-wives, nor would be have the skills to wear high heels in a parade. But most of all our community would not have the much needed bright light that shines from the sisterhood. By knowing Ryan, not only has my life been touch, it has been changed for the better.

s commitment drove me to ask about joining. I had no idea that he would remember every interaction we’d had, as he does with most people, or that he would quickly become such a positive force and presence in my life. Ryan has been there for me through one of the most difficult times in my life, and was never anything less than 110% supportive. After seeing the caring and compassion that he offers so many, the heart and soul he throws into every project he undertakes, and the positive force that stands under pressure, I am proud to call him my friend.
